London, United Kingdom (November 22, 2017): Algebris has appointed Abbas Ameli as Portfolio Manager. He will be working alongside the macro team led by Alberto Gallo, together with Portfolio Managers Aditya Aney, Tao Pan and macro analyst Pablo Morenes. Abbas joins from Amundi, where he was a Portfolio Manager covering emerging market bonds and currencies.

Alberto Gallo said: “Abbas’ expertise in Emerging Markets will be a great addition to Algebris, enhancing our capacity to generate returns globally. The future will be increasingly challenging for investors, as markets will learn to walk without the holding hand of central bankers. The unconditional search for yield we have seen over the past years may end with a return of volatility. With a range of long and short strategies across equities, credit, interest rates and currencies, our macro fund has the flexibility and expertise to outperform in such an environment.”

Abbas Ameli said: “As asset market valuations become stretched, it is crucial to have a flexible approach to seeking returns. Global macro conditions are healing, but there are pitfalls: these include a change in direction by global central banks and rising geopolitical risks.” Abbas added “I am excited to join Algebris, which has a proven track record of delivering for its clients in difficult market conditions. I look forward to being a part of its continued growth and success.”
