Algebris will match all donations and donate 1% of the firm\u2019s profits to Algebris ETS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are actively committed to carbon neutrality and have put into action our carbon off-setting project;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strongly believe in valuing talent by working on educational training programmes for the future generation leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"blog-heading\">\n    <div class=\"blog_heading_wrap\">\n        <div class=\"blog_inner_sub_title\">\n                    <\/div>\n        <div class=\"blog_inner_title\">\n             <h2>Sustainability commitment<\/h2>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>By recognising the extreme urgency of climate change and its challenges, Algebris aims to&nbsp;<strong>achieve carbon neutrality<\/strong>&nbsp;and has committed to&nbsp;<strong>offset all its emissions since inception<\/strong>&nbsp;through an operation of both reforestation and afforestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020 the company launched the AlgeTrees project with a commitment to plant 1 million trees in the coming years. Between 2019 to 2022, 99,842 trees have been planted and in 2023, we aim to plant a further 85,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AlgeTrees project is being carried out in cooperation with&nbsp;<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algebris.com\/our-group\/our-charitable-giving\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hakuna Matata<\/a><\/strong>, the charity founded by Davide Serra, that has been operating in Tanzania since 2010, helping orphaned children through education and health programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is simple and easily scalable, entailing precise steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>assessing the emission Algebris is directly responsible for (offices, flights, garbage, recycled paper);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>translating CO2 into an equivalent number of trees by making assumptions on the trees\u2019 absorption capacity over their life-cycle;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>planting trees that can contribute to the economic welfare of the local community, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>monitoring their growth on an ongoing basis and replenishing the stock in the event some perish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking at future developments, Algebris and Hakuna Matata will endeavour to make the knowledge we have collectively accumulated in developing&nbsp;<strong>the AlgeTrees project available to anyone (firm or individual) who intends to take action against climate change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more about the AlgeTrees project and Algebris\u2019 Sustainability Commitment and download our full report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline is-style-outline--1\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/media.algebris.com\/content\/Algetrees-Report-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AlgeTrees project report<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"blog-heading\">\n    <div class=\"blog_heading_wrap\">\n        <div class=\"blog_inner_sub_title\">\n                    <\/div>\n        <div class=\"blog_inner_title\">\n             <h2>Education<\/h2>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scholarship Programmes with Bocconi University<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Merit is key to Algebris which has committed to&nbsp;<strong>Scholarship Programmes<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>Bocconi University<\/strong>&nbsp;in Milan starting in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To strengthen this commitment to promote merit and support new generations, in 2019 Bocconi University with the contribution of Algebris, has established the&nbsp;<strong>Algebris Chair in Long-term Investment and Absolute Return<\/strong>: a permanent chair aiming to facilitate access to the new frontiers of asset management for the most talented students, including through a direct experience with an innovative Training Camp involving<strong>&nbsp;top<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>fund managers worldwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline is-style-outline--2\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/media.algebris.com\/content\/ImpactReport_Algebris_2023-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bocconi University &#8211; Hakuna Matata passionately believes that through initiatives such these, <strong>rural communities truly learn to live sustainably<\/strong>. Since 2019, our tree planting programmes have involved <strong>450 farmers, 14 schools<\/strong> and over 20 other institutions such as the Njombe Prison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"260\" src=\"https:\/\/www.algebris.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Healthcare-web.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17059\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media.algebris.com\/content\/Healthcare-web.jpg 576w, https:\/\/media.algebris.com\/content\/Healthcare-web-500x226.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rehabilitation &amp; Healthcare<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hakuna Matata supports Inuka Rehabilitation Hospital, the region\u2019s only disability recovery centre in the village of Wanging\u2019ombe. In 2022, the <strong>hospital treated over 3,500 patients<\/strong> with rehabilitation needs and <strong>provided 300 supportive devices<\/strong>, whilst engaging with local communities to improve people\u2019s understanding and acceptance of disabilities.
