The Times: Leaving is not the right fix, it will expose Britain’s weaknesses

Britain has chosen to leave Europe. Its vote has put Scotland and Northern Ireland against England and Wales, London against the rest of the country, the young against the old. We now have a divided kingdom outside a European Union.

When David Cameron was elected, he promised to transform Britain into a manufacturing powerhouse. More than six years later, little has been done to diversify the UK economy from its dependence on financial services and foreign capital and to share the gains from the recovery. Britons are angry and voted accordingly.

Brexit, however, isn’t the right fix.
