    Founder, CEO & CIO

    Davide is the Founder and CEO of Algebris Investments, a global asset management boutique that manages Long Only and Hedged strategies in Credit, Equity and Non-Performing Loans, with a focus on Global Financials. Founded in 2006, Algebris currently maintains offices in London, Boston, Singapore and Milan. Algebris Investments (UK) LLP is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and registered with the SEC. The US office is registered with the SEC and the Singapore office is registered with MAS.

    Davide is recognised as one of the world's leading experts on financial services. He is often consulted by the world's central bankers and regulators on policy matters. He has been awarded the Young Global Leader designation by the World Economic Forum and has also been awarded the Commendatore designation, a decoration of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

    Davide is Chairman and Trustee of the Hakuna Matata foundation, a registered UK charity which he founded with his wife, focused on assisting orphaned children in central Tanzania. Davide is a graduate cum laude of Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and holds a Master CEMS. He played volleyball professionally in Italy from 1985 and 1990 and reached Series A1 and is a keen alpinist.

  • Ivan Vatchkov

    Chief Investment Officer, Asia

    Ivan joined Algebris in 2008 as an Associate Partner responsible for Northern and Eastern Europe, and Asia Pacific markets. In 2010, he moved to Singapore and became Chief Investment Officer of Algebris in Asia. He established Algebris Investments (Asia) Pte. Limited, a regulated fund management company of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and expanded the office to include analysis, trade execution, and investor relations. Ivan’s expertise has been acknowledged and extensively quoted by Bloomberg™, Asian Investor™, CNBC™, Reuters™, FT™ and the Wall Street Journal™ over the last few years. He is recognized globally as an authority in financial regulation, compensation incentive reform, and the new Basel III hybrid debt market (‘CoCos’).

    Prior to Algebris, Ivan was a Director in the CFO office of Credit Suisse Investment Bank (2007 - 2008), and an equity analyst at Credit Suisse (2002 - 2007) and Deutsche Bank (2000 - 2002). In addition to his professional career, Ivan has engaged in extensive philanthropic work: he founded and operates ReachOut.BG, a children’s charity based in Bulgaria dedicated to the support, housing, and education of abandoned children.

    Ivan holds an MSc in International Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and a BA (Hons) in Finance from Richmond University. Ivan is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Young Global Leader community at the World Economic Forum. A Bulgarian native, Ivan speaks fluent English, Russian and German.

  • Massimo Massimilla

    Head of NPL Strategy, CEO Italy
    Massimo has been with Algebris since inception in Summer 2006 and has been responsible for 9 years for investments in Europe and Latam. In Autumn 2015, he became CEO of Algebris Italy assuming new responsibilities focused on our investments in Private Assets across Italy. Prior to Algebris, Massimo worked in corporate finance at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, focusing on the European financial sector.

    Massimo is a graduate cum laude from Bocconi University, Milan and spent a term at New York University. An Italian native, he also speaks fluent Portuguese and English.

  • Simon Peters

    Portfolio Manager, Europe – Partner

    Simon joined Algebris in June 2015 as PM for public equity strategies with lead responsibility for investments in Europe and EMEA. Simon has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial sector. Before joining Algebris, Simon was a global equity financials PM at PIMCO. He ran a global long/short financials fund at Gartmore/Henderson for 8 years and has previously worked for the sovereign wealth fund GIC, Government of Singapore Investment Corp, where he ran financial portfolios.

    He is a CFA charterholder, a qualified accountant (ACA), and holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Exeter, UK.

  • Mark Conrad

    Portfolio Manager, North America – Partner

    Mark joined Algebris at the initiation of the Fund in the summer of 2006. His coverage currently includes US and Canadian financial companies. Prior to joining Algebris, Mark worked at Wellington Management in Boston where he was responsible for research on US life insurance and international bank equities. He had previously worked in Wellington's Equity Product Management group, with a focus on global growth and small cap portfolios.

    Mark is a CFA charterholder and holds his BA, magna cum laude, from Williams College.

  • James Friedman

    Portfolio Manager, Credit – Partner

    James joined Algebris in February 2008 with the responsibility for credit research, focusing particularly on capital instruments. In mid-2014 he moved to Algebris's office in Boston. James was previously at Wellington Management in Boston where he was part of the High Yield research team.

    James holds a BA from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire. He is a CFA charterholder.

  • Alberto Gallo

    Head of Macro Strategies – Partner

    Alberto is a partner at Algebris investments, where he is responsible for leading Global Macro strategies and managing the Algebris Macro Credit Fund.

    He joined Algebris in April 2016. Previously, Alberto set up and headed the Global Macro Credit Research team at RBS, leading idea generation across credit markets. He was top-ranked by Institutional Investor's All Europe Fixed Income Survey over the past four years, most recently #1 for Investment Grade Strategy and #2 for High Yield Strategy for the second year running, and #2 for Fixed Income General Strategy.

    Alberto is active in the financial policy debate as an advisor to central banks and regulators on macro financial stability and as a frequent contributor to the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal. His track record in research includes foreseeing the 2008 crisis as well as the European crisis of 2010, the subsequent central bank driven recovery, and the most recent slowdown in Emerging Markets and China.

    Previously, he was at Goldman Sachs in New York and prior to that at Bear Stearns. Mr Gallo is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from Bocconi University, cum laude. He served in the Navy at the “F. Morosini” academy in Venice, Italy, where he led the Andromeda class of cadets and won national athletics competitions.

  • Sebastiano Pirro

    Portfolio Manager, Credit – Partner

    Sebastiano joined Algebris in August 2012 as investment analyst covering credit opportunities. Prior to this, he worked in corporate finance at JP Morgan Investment Bank in Milan.

    Sebastiano holds an MSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Padua University, Italy. He is a CFA charterholder.

  • Stephanie Bradshaw

    Portfolio Manager & Trader, Asia

    Stephanie joined Algebris in July 2015 as a fundamental specialist in Asian equities. She brings a wealth of experience to the team, having formerly been a fund manager at Aberdeen Asset Management covering equities across the region, a Director at UBS Fundamental Investment Group running Asia Long/Short risk and derivatives and, most recently, at Nomura/Lehman as PM on an Asian Long/Short book alongside the macro, credit, volatility and algo traders.

    Stephanie is a CFA charterholder and holds a BA in Computational Finance from the National University of Singapore.

  • Giancarlo Bollero

    Credit Analyst

    Giancarlo joined Algebris in September 2014 and is currently supporting the credit investment team as an analyst. Prior to joining Algebris, he worked at Deutsche Bank in the Equity Research team in Milan.

    Giancarlo holds an MSc Finance from Bocconi University, Milan.

  • Rob Craig

    Head of Trading – Partner

    Rob joined Algebris in January 2012 as a trader. He previously worked for TCI Fund Services (TCIFS) for 5 years where he performed the treasury function for TCI Fund Management LLP and all the affiliated funds. Prior to joining TCIFS Rob was at Financial Risk Management, where he provided trade support across all the funds.

    Rich joined Algebris in July 2015 as a trader. He previously worked for JPMorgan in London for 4 years. The last 3 years of which he spent working in market risk covering European and African emerging markets and previous to that in compliance for treasury services globally.
